At Chiangmai Life Construction, we build to increase the quality of life. Our client’s life quality as well as our own. We connect to what we do with our heart and thus draw the clients and others into their own projects when otherwise they would have wanted to wait for the finished product only.
The process is quality and the materials chosen are essential for that. We build from natural materials: earth, bamboo, wood and any combination of these. At the same time we embrace any useful progress and knowledge that mankind has produced over the years. Concrete is the best foundation material, modern tools are a joy to work with, but incessant noise is frowned upon.
At the core is the use of common sense and not the need to follow any doctrine.
First comes the clients need, the desired function. Then the space. Then the materials. Now we have to breathe in all these factors until we really understand and then the form and design will evolve through a process of taking the first idea and bouncing it back and forth until everybody smiles and nods his head.
We have a hard time believing that you can make a design on paper and plant it anywhere. What about the sun, its heating and light effects during the span of a day? What about the water that is already there and the rain water that can flood you at the wrong time? What about the wind that can cool you but also destroy your roof?
When building with earth and bamboo, you get closer to nature in many ways. It is essential to understand the interaction of these materials with the elements.
That is life.
